In 2004 three friends in their early 30s decided to start a business and founded Ethnic Co., Ltd. Their plan was to find unique and exotic ethnic accessories. They launched a series of products that were made to accommodate modern people's spiritual and material needs due to the ever-changing social phenomenon.

Their concept is to fulfill the human desire to love and to be loved, relieve tension and stress, satisfy the need to care and to be cared, and raise one self's awareness and potentials from within. Each design is differentiated from others. Every doll has a particular meaning and tells a storyof its own.

They analyzed the everyday people's needs and wants and created an innovative marketing method "psychiatric profiling". With intriguing stories as a marketing tool, our customers not only take home their own Voodoo doll but dreams and hopes that come with it.

Our corporate philosophy is based on innovation, attention to details and care for the everyday people's spiritual needs. There's more to our voodoo dolls than meets the eye - they show a little humanity that you never see in any doll!

How did the name Voodoo doll come about? Why do they have such
different and yet interesting stories? Every voodoo doll's story is extended
to represent significance and a unique voodoo folktale.

In earlier times a string doll was handmade by a single string of cotton but it was simply a plain doll. It's well-known that some mean-spirited people have put string dolls into evil practice of black magic. It was all changed the day that Ethnic creative team laid their eyes on string dolls. Ever since string
dolls began shining with delight and glow with excitement.

Ethnic team understood the uniqueness of handmade string dolls had enormous potential to relate to people from all walks of life. To add more mystery and depth Ethnic went on to research world religions and their spiritual idol figures. They concluded that voodoo fit the bill and can best represent the idea of their products.

Why? Primarily voodoo is recognized as the forces of evil but it was Ethnic's number one choice. During their research they found that voodoo has a bad name due to misled impression by the media. The misconception about voodoo is linked with Haitian ritual practices of evil spells. The truth is that the primary emphasis of voodoo is on the ancestors and Mother Nature. 80% of their worship, including blessing, healing, exorcism and self-reinforcement, is positive values. The remaining 20% is linked with curses and evil spells.

There are two sides to everything, voodoo magic included. When people seek for blessing through positive reinforcement, subconsciously it also goes to show the dark side in human minds. Therefore, Ethnic named their products as Voodoo dolls based on the theory of every soul has double personalities.

A new product needs more than just a catchy name to be successful. If it comes with a self-explanatory story, then it's guaranteed to be a hit. With that idea in mind, Ethnic team began to develop stories accordingly based on the human needs and wants in today's society.

Reality bites and love hurts. Everyone wants to love and to be loved. Therefore, "Love Me Tender" series was created to resolve relationship issues. "Care & Protect" series was designed based on the longings for security and care. To raise positive reinforcement and release stress and tension "Soothing & Healing" series was invented to accommodate the human body and soul. To worship darkness and light and the forces of good and evil "Angelic Devil" series was brought to earth. Last but not least, "Voodoo Spell" series was designated to resolve hatred and let go of pressure.

All five series are distinctively different and each doll comes with an intriguing story, unique character, and designated purpose. Our systematic approach not only works through everyone's troubles but also brings back the long forgotten smile on many faces. Off we go, Ethnic embarks on an exciting and magical adventure!
